Gateway Hub 2.2 is here!
Another major release for Gateway Hub; 2.2 is live
Gateway Hub is the newest component in the Geneos ecosystem providing a new UI, and powerful storage and AI platform for smarter, better monitoring.
Easy to install and administer
The release of version 2.2 builds further upon the improvements made in 2.0 and 2.1; and most importantly it is now significantly simpler to install and administer. The highlights of these simplifications are as follows:
Root level access is no longer required; Hub can be installed entirely without escalated privileges
Raw, unformatted disks are no longer required as part of the install
Many software prerequisites have been removed or reduced. For example the Java Development Kit (JDK) is no longer required, Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is now sufficient.
The recommended and minimum hardware requirements have been further reduced.
Simplified security
With version 2.2 a simpler security model is available based on SAML, which is less tightly coupled to Active Directory or LDAP. This means that a service account is no longer required in order to secure Gateway Hub against Active Directory or LDAP. Although the previous security model is still supported, using SAML rather than direct integration with Active Directory or LDAP is significantly simpler to set up and maintain.
Capacity Planner integration
A built-in integration with Capacity Planner is now provided, enabling entity and metric data to be sent automatically to Capacity Planner with almost no configuration. This allows IT infrastructures to be optimised, saving money through right-sizing and ensuring future capacity needs can be met through the data already collected in Geneos.
