ITRS achieves carbon neutrality
Carbon neutrality is a useful tool in the box to combat climate change, so we’re happy to announce that ITRS Group has just achieved it for 2022.
As leaders from around the world gather in Egypt for the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), achieving carbon neutrality is a key initiative that many organisations strive for and should continue to do so in a collective effort towards tackling global warming.
ITRS Group has been confirmed as a Carbon Neutral Organisation, in recognition of our commitment to carbon offsetting initiatives.
Those initiatives, all of which meet the Verified Carbon Standard, include the:
(1) Negros Island Solar Power Plant project. The project focusses on reducing the Philippines reliance on imported petroleum fuels, by increasing the amount of power generated from solar energy. ITRS are particularly proud to support a project in the Philippines, where we have a significant presence.
(2) Pacajai REDD+ project. This project, based in Brazil, aims to prevent unplanned deforestation in the Amazon rainforest, by managing the land in the form a “private conservation reserve”. The hope is that through employing and training local villagers, the Amazon rainforest (home to many endangered species) will be monitored and protected for generations to come.
ESG and ITRS
At ITRS, we take ESG seriously – internally and externally. Internally we consciously make an effort to reduce our overall carbon footprint by combining good employee practices with environmentally friendly initiatives, for example taking time to clean and reformat unused laptops to donate to a partner charity Mission Without Borders.
The donation reduces ITRS’ waste while benefiting those in need. On our ITRS Community Impact Days, our colleagues all around the world work with dozens of various causes. Many of their efforts are clean-up and other “green” endeavours which are close to their hearts and communities.
Externally, our software helps customers lower the amount they spend on electricity, licenses, people and HVAC, driving them to a lower carbon footprint and a cheaper and more sustainable future.
