ITRS Insights Capacity Planner Launch

Strategic partnership to launch the ITRS Insights Capacity Planner

Through a partnership with Sumerian, ITRS will now offer a capacity planning tool

ITRS has been well-known in the financial world for its infrastructure and applications monitoring tool Geneos for over 20 years. But with continued developments in capacity management, the firm has diversified its technology. Thanks to a strategic partnership with Sumerian, ITRS can now offer state-of-the-art time series forecasting in the form of ITRS Insights Capacity Planner. The application deals with data - taken from both Geneos and other tools and systems - on a large-scale in terms of both volume and data type. This combined data set is used by a powerful predictive analytics engine, which recommends optimisations, predicts future issues, and can be used to quantify business risks. The application also uses machine learning to analyse the metrics of customer’s IT infrastructure and applications to raise warnings and alerts about events that may occur in the future.

Sumerian provides predictive capacity analytics software and was recognised in 2016 by Gartner as a leader in the capacity planning software space. ITRS has partnered with Sumerian because the software complements ITRS’ existing product suite. It recognised that the ability to perform capacity planning across complex IT estates was a growing requirement amongst its client base. Users want to avoid downtime, spot consistently under-used resources to reduce costs and support complex change management projects. Sumerian’s ability to provide predictive capacity analytics will allow clients to be able to do exactly this.

Mark Loader, Head of Product Management & Partners at ITRS said: “This partnership is a powerful, unique solution to our financial services customers. Existing ITRS clients are already benefitting from collecting IT, application and business metrics across their IT estates. Now they can take that data into Insights Capacity Planner to become part of their business workflow, or use complex analytics forecasting when a data centre, stack or even individual servers will encounter issues that could affect output. It can also be used to support larger projects, such as relocating data centres, which could be of huge benefit in the post-Brexit environment.”

Peter Duffy, CEO, at Sumerian added: "We are delighted to work with ITRS to deliver Insights Capacity Planner. The application benefits from using Geneos as its data source, overcoming a constant challenge of finding a consistent data source for physical (non-virtualised) servers, middleware, and application metrics. Our values and ambitions are aligned, in aiming to deliver the best possible technology and experience for our customers. ITRS has a well-established hold in the financial markets industry globally, and we are looking forward to extending the use of our technology worldwide".
