ITRS partnership with Liter of Light Philippines
ITRS partnership with Liter of Light Philippines
ITRS recognises the importance of building a socially responsible business to pursue benefits for the society. It is our mandate to carry one of our company core values into reality to “Build for the long term” through smart partnering.
To strengthen our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, we recently partnered with Liter of Light to get hands-on learning to create alternative lighting solutions. By donating and participating in this movement, each ITRS employee became a giver of light and produced 100 Solar Powered Lamps. This was a remarkable opportunity for our people to show that volunteerism is beneficial to many of the communities so they can live better lives.
“Liter of Light is a global, grassroots movement committed to providing affordable, sustainable solar light to people with limited or no access to electricity. This organisation has already installed more than 350,000 bottle lights in more than 15 countries and taught green skills to empower grassroots entrepreneurs at every stop”.
We chose to support Liter of Light as we strongly believe that this kind of movement is aligned with one of our company values to "Build for the long-term".
Hundreds of millions of people live in informal settlements worldwide. Many of these communities lack access to reliable electric light, and alternative sources of light are vital for their everyday life. Without safe and cost-effective access to light, people often resort to kerosene, candles, or inventive wiring for light, risking their health and safety in the process. Most families struggle to accomplish their daily activities after dark and most of the time, work or study becomes almost impossible. This is a common occurrence in urban informal settlements especially in the Philippines, where a significant part of population lives below the poverty line
Everyone enjoyed the experience of creating an alternative lighting solution and working with their colleagues. This includes some of our employees’ enthusiastic children who already helped the society by joining Liter of Light to build lighting solution that is so affordable and can be easily created.
This movement ignited the passion of our volunteers to continuously look forward to getting involved in a rewarding and worthwhile partnership that promotes sustainable development for the society.
